Bakers & Baldwin

I’ve been getting a lot of people asking me where I purchased my hat and shoes in my facebook profile. Got the wedged sneakers from Bakers and the hat from Baldwin. Bakers Shoes and Baldwin Denim are two companies that I adore. When I do shop outside of thrift stores I tend to go lurking at these stores. Both companies are Missouri based (Bakers>STL / Baldwin>KC) which I love

I’ve shopped bakers for years not knowing they were run out of my home state. All of their shoes are fun and a lil funky which is right up my alley. Plus have you taken a close look at those silver wedge sneakers in the pic below? My heart jumped when I spotted those. I’ve had a silver shoe obsession since middle school so I had to snag these. They are perfect when I’m out shooting live shows. Baldwin Denim is a new brand to me. And although it’s mens wear I can’t help but love everything that they produce. My next boyfriend is sure to get spoiled with goodies from this store. Have you seen their latest promo video? You can just smell the manly goodness as you watch. Ugh, I’m a sucker for a well dressed man. Next time you guys shoot a video holla at your girl to take some behind the scenes photos lol.

What are some of your favorite places to shop. Let me know in the comments!

My name’s Keyonna and I’m a Thrift Store Junky

I’ll admit I wasn’t into it at first. Never really been the shopping kind. Especially when it involved me rummaging through racks and racks of clothes. I was the chick sitting in the corner checking the time, rolling my eyes urging my friends to leave. The first couple of times I went thrifting I was overwhelmed. Intimidated even. It took me a good 3 trips to really jump in.

Since moving back to the midwest I’ve been cutting down on my spending all the way around. This is something I can do for fun and still snag some great one of a kind pieces. I feel like the clothes I purchase have soul in a sense. And don’t get me started on the jewelry. I can’t get enough. $60 typically gets me 15-20 items depending on what I’m getting. Seriously what can you get at the mall for $60? A pair of jeans, shoes or 2 shirts? Mmhhmm, yeah see. I’m a thrift store junky now. The best thing about it is that my personal style has totally evolved into something I feel is completely me. I love it. Here’s a couple items I snagged about a month ago. This time around I got one “expensive” item so I didn’t stock up but I loooove every piece.

“Attitude is everything” mug $2 /  Wood lips $3/  Red fringe boots $20/

Linda Rondstadt vinyl record $1/  Silver sequin dress $4= $30

Do you thrift? What are some of your favorite items you’ve snagged over the years. Send me some pics I wanna see what you got!

First Timer: Boudoir Session with Vanessa

This past weekend I was feeling an overwhelming sense of inspiration. I needed my camera in my hand and I wanted to do a boudoir type of shoot. I believe boudoir gives us an chance to showcase ourselves in a vulnerable yet fearless manner. I often secretly admire the women I come into contact with. Strangers, friends doesn’t matter. As a woman I know how giving and strong we are. But we forget to appreciate ourselves. To love ourselves as much as we love others.

Vanessa was the perfect model for my first boudoir session. We were both a little nervous/excited but I’m proud of the images we created. I plan on making time for more of these kinds of shoots. There’s something great about looking a woman in the eye and telling her she’s beautiful before you photograph her. To watch her nerves slowly melt away as she embraces her particular brand of gorgeous.

Midwest Got Next! hosted by IndyGround Entertainment

I’m long time friends with the founder of IndyGround Entertainment known to many by the name of Steddy P (I’ll save my nicknames for another post). Not only has he created a label that is changing the way the industry looks at music in the midwest, he’s giving back to the hip hop community in a way that’s rarely acknowledged. IndyGround hosts a monthly showcase for local talent called Midwest Got Next! I’ve had the pleasure of photographing these events since they started 4 months ago. Reminds me of the late nights I spent documenting MC’s on thursday nights at LA’s Project Blowed. If you’re in the Westport area and are free on wednesday night (7/18) come out and support local talent. RSVP and grab your tickets here. Check out some of my favorite performances featuring: Sausha Brooks, Dallas, J-None, Les Paul and Missing Link.

It’s Been Way Too Long

I’m here….I know it’s been way too long since it’s posted. And I’m not even sure there is anyone out there dying for a new post but here it is. I’ve been doing alot of soul searching lately….. kinda at a cross roads in my life. Seems like everyone I know is on the verge of some great or a new opportunity. Here’s a look at what I’m getting into this month. First off I hired a trainer… Not just any trainer, it’s my brother….He’s very good at what he does and for that reason I am scared for my life. If you want a great trainer hit him up at this email address for price and availibility. provictoria@hotmail.com

2nd is my photoshoot with the talented Vicky Chang. She has designed some great pieces for your pole dancing workout.

3rd on my list for his month is the Walk MS event here in Kansas City and LA. I will be walking for my mother who has been battling MS for the past 6 years. If you’d like to participate or donate please feel free to do so. My Kansas City team still needs help fundraising.

And last but not least I will be celebrating my birthday at the end of the month….Didn’t I would even get excited about it this year til my roommate surprised me with my first present. It was the game scene it? Twilight Edition. We opened it up and took a crack at it and I can’t wait to play it with a group of people.

Stay tuned to see what I’m up to and if you would like to learn more about the Walk MS check it out here.

She’s My Road Dog

You guys remember Ashley Michelle!! You know…the tastiest talent behing all the treats featured on this here blog (whoa got a little country on ya’ll for a sec lol). Anywho I love my Ash….she’s my road dog. We have been friends for oh 5 years now and chemistry was instant. Feels like we’ve been friends since the days of playing hand clap on the street corner, you know waaayyyy back. The moment I met her I hugged her and that was it she was under my spell. Her and I just click. She’s the type of friend that brings out the goofiest part in you. She’s seen me do somethings so ridiculously silly I can’t even do it in front of anyone else. Ashley is embarking on a new adventure and love…STYLING!! All the clothes featured in this shoot were from her closet. Nothing borrowed, this was all her. Ashley my dear you are beautiful and so talented in so many areas I hope some of that rubs off on me. Enjoy the photos and leave a comment. I’d love to hear what you think.
