Tim & Casey Hanson: Kansas City Wedding Photography

Tim and Casey are such a warm couple. When I met them for the first time there was something about the way they looked and spoke to one another that made me feel at peace. It’s that type of love that you don’t question. You just look at them and think…. YES. And that’s exactly what Casey said when Tim asked her to marry him. The Hanson and Bruce family were so great to work with. After meeting them I then understood where Tim and Casey got their warmth from. They can’t help it. It’s in their genes.  I feel so completely honored to have been apart of Tim and Casey’s wedding day. I look forward to watching their family grow and hope we always remain friends.

*A huge thank you to xl Photography for assisting me and helping me capture their day.

Bakers & Baldwin

I’ve been getting a lot of people asking me where I purchased my hat and shoes in my facebook profile. Got the wedged sneakers from Bakers and the hat from Baldwin. Bakers Shoes and Baldwin Denim are two companies that I adore. When I do shop outside of thrift stores I tend to go lurking at these stores. Both companies are Missouri based (Bakers>STL / Baldwin>KC) which I love

I’ve shopped bakers for years not knowing they were run out of my home state. All of their shoes are fun and a lil funky which is right up my alley. Plus have you taken a close look at those silver wedge sneakers in the pic below? My heart jumped when I spotted those. I’ve had a silver shoe obsession since middle school so I had to snag these. They are perfect when I’m out shooting live shows. Baldwin Denim is a new brand to me. And although it’s mens wear I can’t help but love everything that they produce. My next boyfriend is sure to get spoiled with goodies from this store. Have you seen their latest promo video? You can just smell the manly goodness as you watch. Ugh, I’m a sucker for a well dressed man. Next time you guys shoot a video holla at your girl to take some behind the scenes photos lol.

What are some of your favorite places to shop. Let me know in the comments!

My name’s Keyonna and I’m a Thrift Store Junky

I’ll admit I wasn’t into it at first. Never really been the shopping kind. Especially when it involved me rummaging through racks and racks of clothes. I was the chick sitting in the corner checking the time, rolling my eyes urging my friends to leave. The first couple of times I went thrifting I was overwhelmed. Intimidated even. It took me a good 3 trips to really jump in.

Since moving back to the midwest I’ve been cutting down on my spending all the way around. This is something I can do for fun and still snag some great one of a kind pieces. I feel like the clothes I purchase have soul in a sense. And don’t get me started on the jewelry. I can’t get enough. $60 typically gets me 15-20 items depending on what I’m getting. Seriously what can you get at the mall for $60? A pair of jeans, shoes or 2 shirts? Mmhhmm, yeah see. I’m a thrift store junky now. The best thing about it is that my personal style has totally evolved into something I feel is completely me. I love it. Here’s a couple items I snagged about a month ago. This time around I got one “expensive” item so I didn’t stock up but I loooove every piece.

“Attitude is everything” mug $2 /  Wood lips $3/  Red fringe boots $20/

Linda Rondstadt vinyl record $1/  Silver sequin dress $4= $30

Do you thrift? What are some of your favorite items you’ve snagged over the years. Send me some pics I wanna see what you got!

Midwest Got Next! hosted by IndyGround Entertainment

I’m long time friends with the founder of IndyGround Entertainment known to many by the name of Steddy P (I’ll save my nicknames for another post). Not only has he created a label that is changing the way the industry looks at music in the midwest, he’s giving back to the hip hop community in a way that’s rarely acknowledged. IndyGround hosts a monthly showcase for local talent called Midwest Got Next! I’ve had the pleasure of photographing these events since they started 4 months ago. Reminds me of the late nights I spent documenting MC’s on thursday nights at LA’s Project Blowed. If you’re in the Westport area and are free on wednesday night (7/18) come out and support local talent. RSVP and grab your tickets here. Check out some of my favorite performances featuring: Sausha Brooks, Dallas, J-None, Les Paul and Missing Link.
